Corus Entertainment\u2019s Waterside Studios has begun production on Geek Girl<\/em>, based on the best-selling novels by Holly Smale.<\/p>\n

The ten-part series tells the story of awkward, autistic teenager Harriet Manners, whose life is upended when she is discovered as a model. Emily Carey (House of the Dragon<\/em>, Get Even<\/em>, Wonder Woman<\/em>) is starring in the lead role.<\/p>\n

The cast also includes Sarah Parish (Industry<\/em>, Stay Close<\/em>), Emmanuel Imani (Riches<\/em>, The Wheel Of Time<\/em>), Liam Woodrum (Love in Zion National<\/em>), Zac Looker (A Kind of Spark<\/em>), Tim Downie (Outlander<\/em>, Paddington<\/em>), Jemima Rooper (Flowers in the Attic: The Origin<\/em>), Daisy Jelley (London Kills<\/em>) and Rochelle Harrington.<\/p>\n

The screen adaptation was written by lead writer Jess Ruston, Sameera Steward, Holly Smale and Sarah Morgan. The series is being directed by Declan O’Dwyer (Miss Scarlet & The Duke<\/em>, Flowers In The Attic: The Origin<\/em>, Merlin<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Waterside Studios is co-producing the series with RubyRock Pictures and Aircraft Pictures. Nelvana will handle global distribution.<\/p>\n

Geek Girl<\/em> is slated to premiere next year on YTV and STACKTV in Canada and on Netflix worldwide.<\/p>\n
