When autistic teen Addie discovers a centuries-old mystery within her town, she finds her voice to stand up for those who were persecuted for being different like her.<\/p>\n<p>The series shines a light on the everyday lives of neurodivergent individuals and explores the themes of family unity, loyalty, faith in oneself and hope in the face of insurmountable odds.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 50 percent of the cast and crew are neurodivergent, including the series\u2019 three leads, Lola Blue, Georgia Di Gidlow and Caitlin Hamilton.<\/p>\n<p><em>A Kind of Spark<\/em> is created for television by Anna McCleery (<em>Free Rein<\/em>, <em>Secret Life of Boys<\/em>), who also served as lead writer with Elle McNicoll (<em>A Kind of Spark<\/em>, <em>Show Us Who You Are<\/em>). It is executive produced by Gr\u00e1inne McNamara (<em>Malory Towers<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince its original publication in 2021, Elle McNicoll\u2019s novel has resonated with audiences across the world, especially children, by celebrating the unique perspectives and differences that bring strength to our communities and families,\u201d said Andra Johnson Duke, head of content at BYUtv. \u201cThe inspiring book was born from Elle\u2019s own frustration with misunderstanding specifically of female autism. Serving as a writer for the production, she was able to oversee and consult on key decisions throughout the adaptation process. The result is an uplifting viewing experience, telling an empowering story of self-acceptance and sisterhood for all ages.
