{"id":23025,"date":"2022-05-20T09:12:17","date_gmt":"2022-05-20T13:12:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/ofcom-approves-cbbc\/"},"modified":"2022-05-20T11:35:59","modified_gmt":"2022-05-20T15:35:59","slug":"ofcom-weighs-in-on-cbbc-original-productions-quota","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/ofcom-weighs-in-on-cbbc-original-productions-quota\/","title":{"rendered":"Ofcom Weighs in on CBBC Original Productions Quota"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ofcom has approved a request by the BBC to reduce the CBBC original productions quota in the BBC Operating Licence.<\/p>\n<p>Ofcom said that it considers that the scale of the reduction is small but that it will &#8220;enable the BBC to evolve and innovate to better reach young audiences.&#8221; Ofcom also explained that it understands concerns raised by stakeholders about acquisitions but &#8220;considers that carefully chosen acquisitions within the overall content mix of CBBC can play an important part in making CBBC more appealing to audiences.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The regulator added that the BBC will need to be transparent about how it is delivering for younger audiences, &#8220;and we will hold it to account.
