Mattel Films is set to develop the live-action family drama Christmas Balloon<\/em>, written by Gabriela Revilla Lugo (A Million Little Things<\/em>) and based on a true story.<\/p>\n

Christmas Balloon<\/em> centers on a young girl living in a Mexican border town who tries to send her Christmas wish list to Santa tied to a balloon. A couple in Arizona grieving the loss of their own child end up finding the balloon and making it their mission to fulfill the girl’s wishes.<\/p>\n

Mattel worked with the real couple, Randy and Marcella Heiss, and donated toys to fulfill D\u00e1yami’s list. Christmas Balloon<\/em> is Mattel’s 14th film and its first based on new IP.<\/p>\n
