Sesame Workshop has revealed that Sesame Place San Diego\u2019s construction is near completion ahead of its planned March 2022 opening.<\/p>\n
Through a partnership with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Sesame Place San Diego will be the second Sesame Street<\/em> theme park and the first on the West Coast. The 17-acre park will feature an interactive Sesame Street<\/em> neighborhood complete with the 123 Stoop and a variety of themed rides.<\/p>\n Sesame Place San Diego, located within minutes of downtown San Diego, will be open year-round, with water attractions such as a 500,000-gallon wave pool offered in the summer. The park’s rides and attractions include Elmo’s Rockin’ Rockets, letting kids fly around in one of Elmo’s rocket ships; Cookie Climb, putting kids in a cloud of cookie crumbs as they pull themselves up Cookie Monster-themed towers; and Abby’s Fairy Flight, a family swing ride.<\/p>\n Kids and their families will also have the opportunity to interact with Sesame Street<\/em> characters through live shows, a daily parade, photo opportunities and seasonal events and celebrations.<\/p>\n The park will open as a Certified Autism Center, as designated by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards. Staff-wide autism sensitivity and awareness training will be completed and a park-specific sensory guide will be made available online.
