Saffron Cherry Productions’ The World According to Grandpa<\/em> has a number of new deals in place, coinciding with the debut of the show\u2019s Welsh-language version.<\/p>\n

In partnership with Beyond Rights, Saffron Cherry Productions has landed an AVOD deal for the show with National Indigenous Television (NITV), a division of SBS Australia, which has acquired The World According to Grandpa<\/em> for its new kids’ platform, NITV Jarjums.<\/p>\n

The theatrical rights for The World According to Grandpa<\/em> have been acquired by Creative Rights International (CRI), which will develop the live show with DLAP Productions. CRI aims to launch the show at a high-profile venue in England in 2023, before rolling out to Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and beyond. The show will be reimagined for the stage, with live puppetry and projection work. It will later tour international territories following the show\u2019s television distribution, as it rolls out across the world.<\/p>\n

The original English-language version, currently airing on Channel 5\u2019s Milkshake!, was commissioned alongside Byd Tad-cu<\/em> (Grandpa\u2019s World<\/em>), a Boom Plant production in partnership with Grandpa Productions and Saffron Cherry for S4C. Co-produced with Cardiff-based company Boom Cymru, the Welsh-language version is airing on Cyw on S4C.<\/p>\n

Sioned Wyn Roberts, S4C\u2019s children\u2019s commissioner, said: “It has been great to work with Channel 5 and the YAC Fund, which has allowed us to develop even more ambitious content for our younger viewers. Grandpa\u2019s World<\/em> is a production full of fun, energy and imagination, which is sure to enchant.”<\/p>\n

Adam Paulden, executive producer at Creative Rights International, said: \u201cWe are delighted to be reimagining Grandpa<\/em>\u00a0for the stage: bringing all the magic and wonderment of the television series to audiences worldwide in a unique live setting. We love creating shows that are not only fun for all the family but educational, and Grandpa<\/em> ticks every box. We are excited to embark on this journey and share stories for many years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
