{"id":21302,"date":"2021-08-30T09:21:31","date_gmt":"2021-08-30T13:21:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/four-new-wiggles-join-fruit-salad-tv\/"},"modified":"2021-08-30T11:05:34","modified_gmt":"2021-08-30T15:05:34","slug":"four-new-wiggles-join-for-fruit-salad-tv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/four-new-wiggles-join-for-fruit-salad-tv\/","title":{"rendered":"Four New Wiggles Join for Fruit Salad TV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The new series <em>Fruit Salad TV<\/em> is set to premiere next month exclusively on The Wiggles&#8217; YouTube channel and will feature four new members of the children&#8217;s group.<\/p>\n<p>Joining Blue Wiggle Anthony, Yellow Wiggle Emma, Purple Wiggle Lachy and Red Wiggle Simon will be Blue Wiggle Evie, Yellow Wiggle Kelly, Purple Wiggle John and Red Wiggle Tsehay. The four additional members are part of an effort to feature a cast that better represents the diversity of the world and allows children to see themselves reflected on the screen.<\/p>\n<p><em>Fruit Salad TV<\/em> will feature singing, dancing, storytelling and music that engages children to sing and play along. It is set to premiere on September 4.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Wiggles were created during a time when early childhood educational concepts were the focus,&#8221; said Anthony Field, Blue Wiggle. &#8220;As society has evolved, we have embraced the need for diversity and inclusiveness and want children all over the world to see themselves reflected on the screen. It\u2019s so important that <em>The Wiggles<\/em> continues to evolve along with our society. This is the first step toward shaping <em>The Wiggles<\/em> for the next 30 years, taking us in a direction that truly represents and serves our community more inclusively.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited for the next chapter in <em>The Wiggles<\/em>\u2019 history, which will start with <em>Fruit Salad TV<\/em> and continue on with our other content and our live shows. We can\u2019t wait to introduce our amazing new lineup of incredibly talented performers to children around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Professor Michael McDaniel, the pro-vice-chancellor (Indigenous leadership and engagement) at the University of Technology Sydney, acted as an advisor on the project.\u00a0McDaniel commented, \u201cThe importance of children seeing themselves reflected on screen has been well reported, and the launch of this new era for <em>The Wiggles<\/em> is a genuinely positive step forward.
