Sky Kids has debuted an original show called Obki<\/em> to raise awareness about climate change.<\/p>\n

The series for 5- to 9-year-old children follows an alien named Obki, whose mission is to be a positive force for good on Earth, and his friend, The Orb. It is now available on Sky Kids in the U.K. and Ireland.<\/p>\n

Obki<\/em> was created in collaboration with Sky Zero, Sky\u2019s campaign to be net-zero carbon by 2030 and commitment to raising awareness about the climate crisis. The show was released ahead of COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference later this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to work with Obki Productions to bring this critical message to children,\u201d said Lucy Murphy, director of kids\u2019 content at Sky. \u201cThe next generation will inherit the world we leave behind\u2014together we can educate and empower them to make positive choices that help to protect the future of our planet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fiona Ball, director of bigger picture at Sky, added, \u201cAt Sky, we believe in better, which is why we have committed to being net-zero carbon by 2030 and to use our platforms to inspire meaningful change. Obki<\/em> will positively engage and influence children\u2019s behavior and increase their understanding of what they can do to help tackle the climate crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to be producing our first ever kids\u2019 TV series on such an important subject and proud to be working with Sky, which has been such an enthusiastic and collaborative partner,\u201d said Amanda Evans, founder of Obki Productions.<\/p>\n

Obki<\/em> is but one part of Sky\u2019s plans for dealing with climate change. Since 2019, all Sky originals in the U.K. have been certified CarbonNeutral. In addition, building is currently underway for the new Sky Studios Elstree, which aims to be the world\u2019s most sustainable film and TV production studio when it opens next year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
