The BFI has unveiled the latest slate from the government-funded Young Audiences Content Fund (YACF), with 12 brand-new commissions, a recommission and five development awards from across the U.K.<\/p>\n
Channel 5\u2019s Milkshake!, CITV, Channel 4, S4C and BBC ALBA all have new commissions within the portfolio, including a recommission of Milkshake!\u2019s Go Green With the Grimwades<\/em> and Terry Pratchett\u2019s The Abominable Snow Baby<\/em> commissioned for Channel 4 as this year\u2019s animated Christmas Special.<\/p>\n MG ALBA announced one of the largest investments in children\u2019s content since BBC ALBA\u2019s inception, with the Scottish Gaelic live-action kids\u2019 comedy Tri\u00f9ir aig Tr\u00ec<\/em> (Three at 3<\/em>) receiving support from the YACF. Also for BBC ALBA is the children’s drama Am Pi\u00e0no<\/em>\u00a0(The Piano<\/em>).<\/p>\n ITV2 ordered YACF-backed content for the first time, with a brand-new coming-of-age teen drama Tell Me Everything<\/em> from Noho Films and Television.<\/p>\n Previously announced as development projects, Pop Paper City<\/em> (Milkshake!) and The Sound Collector<\/em> (CITV) are now commissions. The BFI has a 10 percent conversation rate of development awardees to commissions for the YACF, which is 5 percent higher than the industry standard.<\/p>\n Also for CITV, there are Ted\u2019s Top 10<\/em>, produced by Zodiak Kids Studio UK, and The Sound Collector<\/em>, produced by Eagle vs Bat.<\/p>\n For S4C, there are Y Goleudy<\/em> (The Lighthouse<\/em>), Etholiad ’21: Taswn i’n Brif Weinidog Cymru<\/em> (Election 21: If I were the First Minister<\/em>) and Dwdl a Fi<\/em>.<\/p>\n Development awards have gone to the documentary Protest<\/em> (Awen Productions), the situation comedy Idris\u2019 Life<\/em> (ChorMedia), the factual series Asking for a Friend<\/em> (w\/t) (BiLLO Studio), the young adult drama (Dis)Harmony<\/em> (Headline Pictures) and comedy-drama Ready to Launch<\/em> (276 Productions).<\/p>\n Head of Fund Jackie Edwards said:\u00a0\u201cWe are so overjoyed that, despite the challenges of the past year, we are still continuing to make such a vital contribution to the children\u2019s media landscape. To see all of these new unique and distinctive projects commissioned that speak to public service values and reflect and represent the U.K. is truly wonderful.
