Cheryl Taylor, head of content for BBC Children\u2019s, is leaving her post in 2021 after 15 years with the U.K. pubcaster.<\/p>\n
As head of content for BBC Children\u2019s, Taylor has been commissioning all CBeebies and CBBC content for television and online, including factual, drama, comedy, entertainment and news, as well as a wide range of interactive content such as games. Previously, Taylor served as controller of CBBC, and she was the first genre controller to be based outside London. In 2017, she also took on commissioning for CBeebies.<\/p>\n
Taylor told BBC staff via email that she applied for voluntary redundancy and will depart in April 2021. \u201cI\u2019m so proud of what all the teams across BBC Children\u2019s have achieved in the last few years,\u201d Taylor said. \u201cThe seismic changes to the kids’ media landscape have posed complex and invigorating challenges\u2014but I\u2019m certain our wonderful public service content will continue to shine in a world where messages of inclusivity and bold creativity are proving ever more precious.\u201d<\/p>\n
She joined the BBC in 2006 from a role as head of comedy at Hat Trick Productions. Between August 2006 and May 2007, Taylor was acting controller of comedy commissioning, covering Lucy Lumsden’s maternity leave.
