The toy industry, as a whole, grew significantly and continues to demonstrate its resilience in challenging economic times. Mattel\u2019s growth outpaced the industry as we gained share in key markets around the world and achieved growth in each of our four regions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gross sales in North America rose 13 percent, driven by growth in dolls (including Barbie), action figures, building sets, games and vehicles, partially offset by declines in the infant\/toddler\/preschool products business. International gross sales rose by 7 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Key highlights at Mattel Films and Mattel Television include a new <em>Thomas &amp; Friends<\/em> film, as well as the greenlight of 104 new episodes and two specials.
