{"id":17746,"date":"2019-12-10T09:13:11","date_gmt":"2019-12-10T14:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/paul-mccartneys-high-clouds-adapted-netflix-gaumont\/"},"modified":"2020-03-19T12:47:30","modified_gmt":"2020-03-19T16:47:30","slug":"paul-mccartneys-high-in-the-clouds-being-adapted-by-netflix-gaumont","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/paul-mccartneys-high-in-the-clouds-being-adapted-by-netflix-gaumont\/","title":{"rendered":"Paul McCartney&#8217;s High in the Clouds Being Adapted by Netflix &amp; Gaumont"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Netflix and Gaumont are producing a new animated feature from iconic songwriter, author and filmmaker Paul McCartney titled <em>High in the Clouds<\/em>, based on the popular children\u2019s adventure novel of the same title.<\/p>\n<p>In the story,\u00a0an imaginative teenage squirrel named Wirral finds himself pulled into a ramshackle gang of teenage rebels who live high in the clouds after he accidentally antagonizes Gretsch the owl, the tyrannical leader (and fabulous singer!), who steals the voice of anyone who upstages her.<\/p>\n<p>The original book was written by\u00a0McCartney and Geoff Dunbar and Philip Ardagh. The feature will have original songs and music by\u00a0McCartney.<\/p>\n<p>Oscar nominee Timothy Reckart (<em>Head Over Heels<\/em>,<em> The Star<\/em>) is on board to direct, with the screenplay from\u00a0Jon Croker (<em>Paddington<\/em>, <em>Paddington 2<\/em>, <em>Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald<\/em>). Producers are\u00a0Bob Shaye (<em>The Lord of the Rings<\/em> trilogy, <em>The Golden Compass<\/em>), the late Michael Lynne and Paul, Sidonie Dumas, Christophe Riandee, Nicolas Atlan and Terry Kalagian (Gaumont).<\/p>\n<p>McCartney commented: \u201cWe are thrilled to be partnering with Netflix. They complement what is already an amazing team with Gaumont and we can think of no-one better to be working with to bring our film to a global audience. I\u2019ve always loved animated films and this is a hugely important passion project for me. I can\u2019t wait for the world to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Nicolas Atlan, president of Gaumont Animation and Family, said: \u201cThe development of <em>High in the Clouds<\/em> has been a fantastic journey working together with Tim and Jon and of course my amazing Gaumont Animation and Family team, Terry Kalagian and Alex Soto. We feel fortunate as this has been an extremely collaborative creative process with the incomparable Paul McCartney and his team, including Lee Eastman who has offered invaluable guidance throughout the development stage.
