{"id":16484,"date":"2019-06-04T09:59:06","date_gmt":"2019-06-04T13:59:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/nickelodeon-bring-crystal-maze-u-s\/"},"modified":"2019-06-04T10:40:26","modified_gmt":"2019-06-04T14:40:26","slug":"nickelodeon-to-bring-the-crystal-maze-to-the-u-s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/nickelodeon-to-bring-the-crystal-maze-to-the-u-s\/","title":{"rendered":"Nickelodeon to Bring The Crystal Maze to the U.S."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nickelodeon in the U.S. has greenlit an all-new version of the hit U.K. game show <em>The Crystal Maze<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Co-produced by Bunim\/Murray Productions (<em>The Real World<\/em>, <em>The Challenge<\/em>, <em>Born This Way<\/em>) and RDF Television (<em>Secret Life of 4 Year Olds<\/em>, <em>Wife Swap<\/em>, <em>Shipwrecked<\/em>), all under the Banijay Group, <em>The Crystal Maze<\/em> is a competitive challenge game show. In each episode, a family team must use both physical and mental skills to navigate a labyrinth of four immersive themed zones. The show\u2019s host, who has yet to be announced, will guide the families through each challenge and adventure. The game ends with the team entering the Crystal Dome to grab a cash prize as it flies around during a clock countdown.<\/p>\n<p>Casting is underway for <em>The Crystal Maze<\/em>, which begins production this summer. The premiere date will be revealed at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>Rob Bagshaw, executive VP of Nickelodeon unscripted content, said: \u201cAs Nickelodeon embraces co-viewing opportunities for every member of the family, <em>The Crystal Maze<\/em> brings a new type of action game and storytelling to audiences with its escape room-style gameplay and emphasis on collaboration and teamwork to win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gil Goldschein, CEO of Bunim\/Murray Productions, added: \u201c<em>The Crystal Maze<\/em> has long served as a staple of the U.K. entertainment landscape, and we could not be happier to be reinventing the show for a younger demo alongside our sister companies, RDF and Stephen David Entertainment.
