{"id":14271,"date":"2018-04-30T09:53:56","date_gmt":"2018-04-30T13:53:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/super-boomi-goes-global\/"},"modified":"2018-04-30T09:59:17","modified_gmt":"2018-04-30T13:59:17","slug":"super-boomi-goes-global","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/super-boomi-goes-global\/","title":{"rendered":"Super BOOMi Goes Global"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Chinese animated series and IP <em>Super BOOMi<\/em>\u00a0from Up Studios will be globally distributed by Corus Entertainment\u2019s Nelvana outside of Greater China.<\/p>\n<p>Nelvana will also represent the licensing and merchandising rights for <em>Super BOOMi<\/em> outside of Greater China. In addition, Nelvana entered into a first-look agreement with Up Studios that will see the companies co-develop and finance new properties for both Chinese and international audiences through a multiyear plan.<\/p>\n<p><em>Super BOOMi<\/em> was created by Trevor Lai, the CEO and founder of Up Studios. Nelvana and Up Studios will work with Tencent and its network of partners to launch the show\u2019s content and licensing program internationally. Nelvana aims to build on <em>Super BOOMi<\/em>\u2019s momentum and plans to version the series for a range of international markets, including those with strong consumer-product programs.<\/p>\n<p>The 3D-animated series follows the adventures of BOOMi bear and his best friends as they play and learn in a VR game universe. <em>Super BOOMi<\/em> focuses on themes of friendship, positivity and the power of imagination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith Trevor\u2019s richly imagined stories and characters that are truly universal, we feel <em>Super BOOMi<\/em> has incredible potential to travel globally and are so pleased that Nelvana will be instrumental in making it happen,\u201d said Pam Westman, the head of Nelvana Enterprises. \u201c<em>Super BOOMi<\/em> is only the beginning of our collaboration with Trevor. His creativity and business savvy will be instrumental in our development of new content for the international market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am thrilled to be working with Nelvana to bring <em>Super BOOMi<\/em> to audiences around the world,\u201d said Lai of Up Studios. \u201cThe series was always created with the international market in mind, and in addition to our partners within Greater China, we look forward to working with Nelvana\u2019s extensive distribution, production and licensing teams to launch <em>Super BOOMi<\/em> globally. Watching Nelvana\u2019s shows was a wonderful part of my childhood, and I am overjoyed to now have the opportunity to create characters and stories with them to entertain a new generation of families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very proud of <em>Super BOOMi<\/em>\u2019s success on our Tencent Video platform, as well as its performance atop television ratings in China,\u201d said Selina She, the chief editor of Tencent\u2019s kids channel. \u201cTrevor and Up Studios have been excellent creative and production collaborators, while also bringing world-class partners like Holiday Inn, Li &amp; Fung, and now Nelvana together to build <em>Super BOOMi<\/em> into a global property.
