{"id":14267,"date":"2018-04-27T10:13:11","date_gmt":"2018-04-27T14:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/disney-channel-orders-new-star-wars-cartoon\/"},"modified":"2018-04-27T10:52:11","modified_gmt":"2018-04-27T14:52:11","slug":"disney-channel-orders-new-star-wars-cartoon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/disney-channel-orders-new-star-wars-cartoon\/","title":{"rendered":"Disney Channel Orders New Star Wars Cartoon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Disney Channel has unveiled <em>Star Wars Resistance<\/em>, a new anime-inspired adventure series that is due to debut in the U.S. before rolling out worldwide.<\/p>\n<p><em>Star Wars Resistance<\/em> follows Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot for the Resistance who is tasked with spying on the First Order. The show will feature the voices of Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie, among others. It is slated to launch on Disney Channel in the U.S. this fall and then premiere on Disney XD and around the globe.<\/p>\n<p>Production has kicked off on <em>Star Wars Resistance<\/em>, which was created by Lucasfilm Animation&#8217;s Dave Filoni. The series is being executive produced by Athena Portillo and Justin Ridge (<em>Star Wars: The Clone Wars<\/em>, <em>Star Wars Rebels<\/em>) as well as Brandon Auman (<em>Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The idea for <em>Star Wars Resistance<\/em> came out of my interest in World War II aircraft and fighter pilots,&#8221; said Filoni. &#8220;My grandfather was a pilot and my uncle flew and restored planes, so that&#8217;s been a big influence on me.
