Discovery has launched a digital subscription service of its Discovery Kids brand through Amazon\u2019s Prime Video Channels in the U.K.<\/p>\n
Building on Discovery Kids’ success in Latin America, the on-demand service offers content for families with children aged 4 to 8. Discovery Kids features animated series, animal shows and educational programming, including My Little Pony<\/em>, Peppa Pig<\/em>, Angry Birds Toons<\/em>, Strawberry Shortcake\u2019s Berry Bitty Adventures\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Transformers Rescue Bots<\/em>.<\/p>\n Discovery Kids also offers shows from Discovery\u2019s content library such as Doki<\/em>, Meet the Penguins<\/em> and Dogs: The Untold Story<\/em>. There is also a version of How Do They Do it \u2013 Kids<\/em>, an educational series that teaches young children fun facts about the world.<\/em><\/p>\n Michael Lang, the president of digital and Eurosport digital, and CEO of MotorTrend at Discovery International,\u00a0said: \u201cChildren are digital natives from an increasingly young age, and given the success of our Discovery Kids channels around the world, we saw a unique opportunity to engage directly with them through our content. Discovery is a trusted brand and curator of content, and we have created a fun and entertaining place for young children and their parents to come and explore the world in a safe environment.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe want to offer our customers a broad selection of kids shows, and with the addition of the new Discovery Kids channel, only available to Prime Video members, they will be able to access both fun and educational favorites all in one place,\u201d added Alex Green, the European managing director of channels and sport at Amazon Prime Video. \u201cDiscovery Kids adds to Prime Video Channels\u2019 lineup of over 60 subscription channels, allowing Prime members the freedom and choice to pay for only what they want to watch without having to sign up to a bundle or a contract, all with the convenience of watching in one app.\u201d<\/p>\n James Gibbons, the executive VP, general manager for the U.K., Ireland, ANZ and commercial development for EMEA at Discovery,\u00a0commented: \u201cWhen we were developing Discovery Kids for the U.K. market, we saw an opportunity to launch on Amazon\u2019s Prime Video, to present this new venture and extend our streaming relationship.
