DHX Media’s DHX Brands has licensed Teletubbies<\/em> to KBS, marking the first South Korean broadcaster to air the new treatment.<\/p>\n

The Teletubbies<\/em> reboot is due to debut on KBS in May 2018. In addition, SMG Holdings\/Joon International has been named licensing agent for the property in South Korea, with merchandise slated to begin rolling out later this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Asian rollout of the new Teletubbies<\/em> series is off to a tremendous start,\u201d said Josh Scherba, the executive VP of content and distribution at DHX Media. \u201cWe\u2019ve seen strong viewer response in China so far and we\u2019re really excited now to expand this delightful evergreen property into South Korea for preschoolers and families to enjoy. As the leading public broadcaster in South Korea, KBS is the perfect platform for Teletubbies<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Peter Byrne, the executive VP of DHX Brands, noted: \u201cThere is a huge appetite for the Teletubbies<\/em> brand in Korea and SMG Holdings has an extensive track record of managing top entertainment properties, making them the ideal agency to bring the magical world of Teletubbies<\/em> to a new generation of preschoolers through consumer products and live experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n
