Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) has inked a distribution deal with Hulu in Japan that sees the launch of the new Nickelodeon linear channel via OTT and mobile platforms in the country.<\/p>\n
The subscription-based 24\/7 linear channel is offering Japanese viewers access to such animated hits as SpongeBob SquarePants<\/em>, Dora the Explorer<\/em> and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles<\/em>, as well as the new series Shimmer & Shine<\/em> and Blaze and the Monster Machines<\/em>.<\/p>\n Nickelodeon is now available on both Hulu in Japan and NTT DOCOMO’s dTV-Channel, marking the first time internationally that Viacom has made a Nick-branded subscription TV channel available only on streaming devices.<\/p>\n Mark Whitehead, the president and managing director for the Asia Pacific at VIMN, remarked: \u201cLaunching Nickelodeon in Japan is a significant milestone for us as we continue to evolve our business with new avenues of growth from OTT and mobile for our flagship brands in mature subscription TV markets like Japan.
