Shellhut and Tiny Island Pictures have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shanghai Media Group’s WingsMedia for the co-production of ten feature films.<\/p>\n
The MoU was signed at MIPCOM and is valued at approximately $250 million, marking the biggest animation film cooperation in Asia. The first production from the JV will combine WingsMedia’s sci-fi-themed reality show Starship MZ: 2049<\/em> with Tiny Island’s animated series Dream Defenders<\/em>. It is slated for release in 2020, with a new movie based on a new IP to roll out every year after that.<\/p>\n An international team of animation veterans will lead the development and production of the films, led by director Paul Chung, who has worked for DreamWorks, Disney, Warner Bros. and MGM. Through the creation of new IPs, the company will expand its operations to also developing L&M products.<\/p>\n Dr. Jwanwat (Tan) Ahriyavraromp, the CEO of Shellhut Entertainment, said: “We are dedicated to searching the globe for the best film and television content and are confident that this partnership will introduce the world’s audience to the new, exciting and unique flavors of Asia.”<\/p>\n David Kwok, the CEO of Tiny Island Productions, noted: \u201cPaul has many years of experience working in the U.S. and U.K., and has been working in China recently.
