{"id":12995,"date":"2017-09-21T09:41:26","date_gmt":"2017-09-21T13:41:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/new-album-marks-teletubbies-20th-anniversary\/"},"modified":"2017-09-21T12:16:49","modified_gmt":"2017-09-21T16:16:49","slug":"new-album-marks-teletubbies-20th-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/new-album-marks-teletubbies-20th-anniversary\/","title":{"rendered":"New Album Marks Teletubbies 20th Anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DHX Brands has teamed up with ABC Kids and The Children\u2019s Group to release a new album, <em>Big Hugs<\/em>, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of\u00a0<em>Teletubbies<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Featuring a mix of new songs from the series alongside children\u2019s classics with a \u201cTubby-twist,\u201d <em>Big Hugs <\/em>will be available both digitally and as a CD in Australia as of September 22, and in the U.K. and U.S. on September 29. Narrator Daniel Rigby lends his voice to many of the songs, including the title track \u201cBig Hugs,\u201d \u201cBottom Bump Song\u201d and \u201cTiddlytubbies Songtime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Starting tomorrow, the 19-song soundtrack will be available at The ABC Shop Online, JB, Hifi, Sanity and iTunes. ABC Kids will handle distribution throughout Australia. On September 29, <em>Big Hugs <\/em>will be available for purchase at Walmart, Barnes &amp; Noble, Best Buy, Amazon.com and iTunes in the U.S., as well as HMV, FOPP, Amazon.co.uk and iTunes in the U.K., with distribution handled by The Children\u2019s Group.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor 20 years, preschoolers have been singing, dancing and saying \u2018Eh-oh!\u2019 along with the Teletubbies, so what better way to celebrate the iconic brand\u2019s 20th anniversary than with a new album?\u201d said Linda Noelle Bush, the music manager at DHX Media. \u201cThe Teletubbies saw tremendous success with the release of their original album in 1997, which was championed by Simon Cowell. The single \u2018Teletubbies Say Eh-oh\u2019 was a Christmas number-one single in the U.K., selling more than 1 million copies. We look forward to enchanting a whole new generation of <em>Teletubbies<\/em> fans with the release of this new soundtrack.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMusic and dance are integral parts of the new <em>Teletubbies<\/em> series and they have been carefully crafted to encourage very young children to express themselves,\u201d said Charlotte Hill, the senior brand manager at DHX Brands. \u201cWe\u2019re delighted to release this new album, which complements our comprehensive licensing program, creating yet another consumer touchpoint so that fans can engage with the brand anywhere, at any time.
