Paula Taborda dos Guaranys, Gloob\u2019s head of content and programming, talks to <\/em>TV Kids about Globosat\u2019s first children\u2019s channel, which launched in 2012.<\/em><\/p>\n In 2012, Brazil\u2019s multichannel cable and satellite television service Globosat decided that it was time to fill the country\u2019s need for quality kids\u2019 programming with the launch of Gloob, its first network for children. The channel is aimed at young viewers between the ages of 6 and 9. It features a variety of live-action and animated content that typically airs during prime-time slots in Brazil.<\/p>\n \u201cGlobosat realized it didn\u2019t have in its portfolio a channel dedicated to one of the most important audiences of all\u2014kids,\u201d Paula Taborda dos Guaranys, Gloob\u2019s head of content and programming, tells\u00a0TV Kids<\/em>. \u201cSo Globosat teamed up with the most prestigious production companies in Brazil, set up a content curatorship and a talented team to launch Gloob.\u201d She says the network\u2019s mission is to \u201cinspire and entertain kids\u201d with adventure-filled and humorous content that spans such non-violent themes as friendship, affection, courage and respect.<\/p>\n Gloob\u2019s catalog contains more than 250 hours of original content. Titles from the library have been licensed by broadcasters in Europe and Asia.<\/p>\n A local drama on the channel is the 1960s-set live-action show\u00a0Valentins<\/em>, which looks on as four siblings work together to uncover the truth about their\u00a0 Another highlight is\u00a0Paper Port<\/em>, a paper-motion production following the misadventures of a 12-year-old girl who wakes up with a different superpower each day. The show is a collaboration with Latin American partners from Chile, Colombia and Argentina. It is internationally distributed by Millimages. There is also the animated\u00a0S.O.S. Fairy Manu<\/em>, an International Emmy Kids Award nominee about a fairy godmother learning from her retired grandma, and\u00a0B.B.D.<\/em>, a live-action series centered on three \u201cBlue Building Detectives\u201d who get together every day to investigate fishy situations in their building.<\/p>\n \u201cGloob\u2019s programming comprises original productions such as\u00a0B.B.D.<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Valentins<\/em>; international co-productions, including\u00a0Paper Port<\/em>; and renewed international shows such as\u00a0ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks<\/em>,\u00a0Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug<\/em>\u00a0& Cat Noir<\/em>,\u00a0Odd Squad<\/em>\u00a0and others,\u201d says Taborda dos Guaranys.
