{"id":12526,"date":"2017-06-23T08:00:03","date_gmt":"2017-06-23T12:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/worldscreen.com\/"},"modified":"2017-06-23T10:46:49","modified_gmt":"2017-06-23T14:46:49","slug":"david-oyelowo-joins-lion-guard-voice-cast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvkids\/david-oyelowo-joins-lion-guard-voice-cast\/","title":{"rendered":"David Oyelowo Joins Lion Guard Voice Cast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>David Oyelowo (<em>Selma<\/em>) has signed on to voice the role of Scar in Disney Junior&#8217;s new animated series <em>The Lion Guard<\/em>, the sophomore\u00a0season of which is due to debut next month.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Lion Guard<\/em> follows the adventures of Kion, the youngest son of <em>The Lion King<\/em>&#8216;s Simba and Nala.\u00a0The show&#8217;s second installment\u00a0is slated to premiere\u00a0with two back-to-back episodes\u00a0on Friday, July 7, at 8 a.m. Scar, the villainous uncle of Simba, will make his first appearance on Saturday, July 29, at 9 a.m. in\u00a0a special extended episode that sees\u00a0Kion accidentally summon him by using the Roar of the Elders in anger.<\/p>\n<p>Additional guest stars for the new season\u00a0include\u00a0Ren\u00e9e Elise Goldsberry (<em>Hamilton<\/em>) as Dhahabu, a golden zebra; Common (<em>Selma<\/em>) as Kiburi, a crocodile; Kristofer Hivju (<em>Game of Thrones<\/em>) as Kenge, a monitor lizard; AJ Mclean (Backstreet Boys) as Kuchimba, a golden mole; Carla Hall (<em>The Chew<\/em>) as Mpishi, an\u00a0African harrier hawk; Christopher Jackson (<em>Hamilton<\/em>) as Shujaa, a strong gorilla; and CCH Pounder (<em>Avatar<\/em>) as Kongwe, an\u00a0old turtle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>David Oyelowo (Selma) has signed on to voice the role of Scar in Disney Junior&#8217;s new animated series The Lion Guard, the sophomore season of which is due to debut next month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":479,"featured_media":12527,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pmpro_default_level":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[21],"tags":[2767,112,284],"class_list":["post-12526","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","","category-top-stories","tag-david-oyelowo","tag-disney-junior","tag-the-lion-guard","pmpro-has-access"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.7 -
