For the 52-episode TV series, Yusoff plans to expand on the characters in Mila’s world. She will serve as a scriptwriter and supervise character development. The series will be available in English for the international market.

H Culture will debut a two-minute trailer for the show in September to pitch potential buyers in France, the U.K. and Poland. Development is expected to take two years. In addition to developing the animation, H Culture will be the sole agency to market the series globally. The MOU was signed at the tenth Kuala Lumpur Trade and Copyright Centre (KLTCC).

“I’m really excited to see Mila come to ‘life’ through the animation series and I’m humbled that my character has garnered attention from an international studio,” said Yusoff. “I believe it will be well-received by everyone and hope it will go far.”

Sukhwa Hong, H Culture’s president and animation director, added, “I fell in love with the character as Mila is not just a unique character, but it tells a warm-hearted story which I think will resonate well with the audiences. No doubt producing a high-quality animation series will take time, but I believe with a great team and passion, we will have a great story to tell.”

Malaysian author Maslina Yusoff has signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korean studio H Culture to adapt her children’s book series Mila into an animated show for the international market.

[21
2573,2574,2575
post-12205","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","","category-top-stories","tag-h-culture","tag-maslina-yusoff","tag-mila","pmpro-has-access

South Korea’s H Culture to Adapt Book Series Mila for TV - TVKIDS

{"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/south-koreas-h-culture-to-adapt-book-series-mila-for-tv/","url":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/south-koreas-h-culture-to-adapt-book-series-mila-for-tv/","name":"South Korea’s H Culture to Adapt Book Series Mila for TV - TVKIDS","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/#website"},"datePublished":"2017-05-01T14:46:41+00:00","dateModified":"2017-05-01T14:46:41+00:00","author":{"@id":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/#/schema/person/3a30a856ec6d9cc2372bf054d26a0418"},"breadcrumb":{"@id":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/south-koreas-h-culture-to-adapt-book-series-mila-for-tv/#breadcrumb"},"inLanguage":"en-US","potentialAction":[{"@type":"ReadAction","target":["https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/south-koreas-h-culture-to-adapt-book-series-mila-for-tv/"]}]},{"@type":"BreadcrumbList","@id":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/south-koreas-h-culture-to-adapt-book-series-mila-for-tv/#breadcrumb","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"name":"Home","item":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/"},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"name":"South Korea’s H Culture to Adapt Book Series Mila for TV"}]},{"@type":"WebSite","@id":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/#website","url":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/","name":"TVKIDS","description":"","potentialAction":[{"@type":"SearchAction","target":{"@type":"EntryPoint","urlTemplate":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/?s={search_term_string}"},"query-input":"required name=search_term_string"}],"inLanguage":"en-US"},{"@type":"Person","@id":"https://worldscreen.com/tvkids/#/schema/person/3a30a856ec6d9cc2372bf054d26a0418","name":"Sara Alessi","description":"Sara Alessi is the associate editor of World Screen.
