BURBANK: Disney XD is debuting the new original animated series\u00a0Marvel’s Spider-Man\u00a0<\/em>in 2017.<\/p>\n

Produced by Marvel Television, the new series tells the story of an unsure but courageous teen, Peter Parker, who has to figure out how to be a super hero from the very beginning.\u00a0Marvel’s Spider-Man<\/em> was unveiled at New York Comic Con. Disney XD\u2019s current Spider-Man series, Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man<\/em>, will conclude in January 2017 with a two-part finale.<\/p>\n

“Spider-Man is the biggest action hero in the world,\u201d said Marc Buhaj, the senior VP of programming and general manager of Disney XD. \u201cHe is an iconic character whose duality makes him both relatable and aspirational for the Disney XD audience. We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Marvel in this new original series that offers a fresh take on a beloved classic that will engage both new and existing Spidey fans with its compelling drama, exciting action and the signature sense of comedy.”<\/p>\n

“We’ve been secretly nurturing Marvel’s Spider-Man<\/em> for years now, so we are thrilled to finally announce it,\u201d said Cort Lane, the senior VP of Marvel Animation and Family Entertainment. \u201cThe simple title reflects a back-to-basics approach\u2014the story of an ordinary teen, Peter Parker, who suddenly finds himself with strange new powers and overwhelming responsibility. And thanks to story editor Kevin Shinick (Robot Chicken<\/em>, Mad<\/em>) and supervising director Philip Pignotti (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble<\/em>), it’s just filled with heart and humor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Executive producers for the series are Alan Fine (Marvel’s The Avengers<\/em>, Iron Man<\/em>, Thor<\/em>), Dan Buckley (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble<\/em>, Marvel\u2019s Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.<\/em>), Joe Quesada (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble<\/em>) and Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.<\/em>). Co-executive producers are Stan Lee (Spider-Man<\/em>), Eric Radomski (Spawn<\/em>, Marvel’s Avengers Assemble<\/em>), Lane (Marvel\u2019s Ultimate Spider-Man<\/em>) and Stephen Wacker (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble<\/em>). The supervising producers are Shinick and Marsha Griffin (Transformers Prime<\/em>, The Life and Times of Juniper Lee<\/em>).
