LONDON\/MANCHESTER: CBBC has commissioned Channel X to produce a third season of the hit kids’ comedy series So Awkward<\/em> via the independent production company’s Channel X North division.<\/p>\n

Created by Julie Bower, So Awkward<\/em> follows the adventures of three socially awkward friends who are learning that it’s good to be different. The 13×30-minute sophomore season is due to debut this summer.<\/p>\n

Alan Marke, the managing director of Channel X, commented: \u201cSo Awkward<\/em> came about when an opportunity arose to develop one of our adult comedy scripts into a children\u2019s project. We\u2019re thrilled that the series has been such a hit for CBBC with a third [season]\u00a0having just been ordered! We wanted to create a smart comedy with quality writing and acting that doesn\u2019t talk down to its audience and we\u2019re really proud of what we\u2019ve achieved.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jim Reid, the director of programs at Channel X, added: \u201cHaving spent the last 30 years specializing in comedy formats for adults, it\u2019s great that we can use our expertise to develop an award-winning children\u2019s sitcom. Because children\u2019s shows are ordered in blocks of 13, it means there is a lot more work to get your teeth into.
