TORONTO: DHX Television has ordered a second season of the original tween drama series Backstage<\/em>, produced by Fresh TV, for broadcast on Family Channel next year.<\/p>\n

Backstage<\/em> follows a group of talented teens attending a prestigious performing arts school. The show, which premiered on Family Channel\u00a0in March, stars Josh Bogert, Aviva Mongillo and Mckenzie Small, among others. Production on the 30-episode sophomore season is slated to begin this summer in Toronto.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s no secret that our core audience is fascinated by the performing arts, and we\u2019re thrilled to be able to spark their imaginations with this realistic and heartfelt peek into everyday teenage life,\u201d said Michael Goldsmith, the VP of original production at DHX Television. \u201cOur cast of actors, singers and dancers represents Canadian talent at its finest, and we look forward to seeing even more of what they have to offer as the second season builds upon the international success of the first.\u201d<\/p>\n
