SpongeBob SquarePants Renewed for Season 13

Nickelodeon has picked up the hit animated series SpongeBob SquarePants for a 13th season as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Ahead of the renewal announcement, the network kicked off the series’ 20th-anniversary celebrations with the premiere of the original live-action and animated special SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout. The special drew 2.2 million total viewers across Nickelodeon, TeenNick and Nicktoons during its simulcast on Friday, July 12.

For its 13th season, SpongeBob SquarePants, created by Stephen Hillenburg and produced by Nickelodeon, will reunite original voice cast members Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton). Vince Waller and Marc Ceccarelli serve as showrunners.
