LONDON: The new web series So Sammy, co-created by comedian Miranda Hart, will premiere February 18 on the Disney Channel app, marking the first-ever series produced exclusively for that digital platform.

The new series also marks Hart’s first venture into children’s TV and will be produced by King Bert Productions, the production company she launched in 2014 with David Walliams and Jo Sargent. So Sammy will launch in the U.K. before rolling out across other markets in Europe.

The first two webisodes will premiere on February 18 and 19, with the remaining eight rolling out in the same time slot each weekend for five weeks. Following its debut on the app, the series will window onto other platforms after an exclusive period.

Hart commented: “I hope kids everywhere will be enchanted by lovely, funny Sammy who gets herself into many silly scrapes and adventures, much to our delight. With the show set in the intriguing world of tween vlogging, it is a perfect fit that So Sammy has its platform on the Disney Channel app.”

Helene Etzi, the general manager for Disney Channels EMEA, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Miranda Hart and the team at King Bert Productions. So Sammy perfectly complements our roster of great locally produced snackable content that’s made for our viewers to consume online via the Disney Channel app. The series demonstrates our commitment to creating shows that resonate with our local audiences and are made in a format that is convenient for them, whether that’s in the comfort of their own home or while they’re on the go.”
