Konami Celebrates Yu-Gi-Oh! with Art Show

Konami Cross Media NY and Los Angeles’ Gallery1988 have teamed up to create a Yu-Gi-Oh!-themed art show that is set to open the same weekend as the nearby Anime Expo.

To commemorate the show’s more than 20 years on air, some of Gallery1988’s most popular artists have been commissioned to create artwork inspired by Yu-Gi-Oh!’s creator, Kazuki Takahashi, and its characters. The one-of-a-kind pieces and prints are set to debut at the Yu-Gi-Oh! Tribute Art Show’s July 5 launch in L.A.

The featured gallery artists are Tom Whalen, Dan Mumford, Steve Dressler, Dave Perillo, Matthew Skiff and Anthony Petrie, alongside some 50 other artists. Sensei Takahashi has also created four never-before-seen pieces that will debut at the exhibit along with the other artists’ prints. In addition to the traditional artwork, an installation from Pretty In Plastic will also be displayed at Gallery1988.

“It is an honor to organize a show celebrating the rich expansive world of Yu-Gi-Oh! created by Kazuki Takahashi,” said Yuta Kose, president of Konami Cross Media NY. “We are very excited to be partnering with Gallery1988 and the participating artists.”
