Kids’ Industry Pays Tribute to Tim Brooke-Hunt

Tim Brooke-Hunt, former head of children’s at ABC Australia, has died after a long illness.

Brooke-Hunt joined the ABC in 2007 as the executive head of children’s content for ABC TV and became controller of children’s in 2010. In these roles, Brooke-Hunt led the launch of the ABC3 for school-age kids and the relaunch of the preschool channel ABC4Kids. He was also responsible for the ABC’s Educational programs and online content for children, including two dedicated portals.

Among the ABC shows Brooke-Hunt commissioned were the dramas My Place and Dance Academy and the preschool series Giggle and Hoot. Brooke-Hunt left the ABC in 2013.

Throughout his career, he produced some of Australia’s most-loved children’s programming, including Blinky Bill, Yakkity Yak, Old Tom and L’il Horrors, and worked for Beyond International and the Yoram Gross Studios before starting his own company, Sticky Pictures.
