Japan Scores Top Prizes at OIAF

The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) has selected the winners from its 46th edition, with Bird in the Peninsula taking the Grand Prize for short animation and Dozens of Norths landing the Grand Prize for feature animation.

The Japanese animated short Iizuna Fair scored the award for best non-narrative short. This year’s Canadian Film Institute Award (CFI) for best Canadian animation went to The Flying Sailor.

The Wacom Public Prize, selected by the festival’s attendees, was awarded to Sierra. Best narrative short was presented to Letter of a Pig.

The award for best commissioned went to The Humane Society International—Save Ralph.

The Bento Box Award for best student animation was won by The Seine’s Tears.

In the 3-plus competition, the winner was My Name is Fear, with a special mention for Toddler Talks. The winner in the 7-plus competition was Luce and the Rock, with a special mention for Lost Brain.
