Great British Bake Off Winner On Board Junior Bake Off

LONDON: Nadiya Hussain, who won last year’s edition of The Great British Bake Off, has signed on to serve as judge on the upcoming season of CBBC’s Junior Bake Off.

The new season of Junior Bake Off is currently in production for broadcast on CBBC this fall. Hussain will work with international chef and food writer Allegra McEvedy to evaluate the skills of young bakers between the ages of 9 and 12. Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes are returning to host the BAFTA-winning series, which is made by Love Productions (The Great British Bake Off).

Hussain remarked: “I’m delighted to be joining Junior Bake Off as a judge. This time last year I was in the Bake Off tent and now I get to go back and help encourage the next generation to get their bake on. I am so excited to have this opportunity.”

Cheryl Taylor, controller of CBBC, noted: “The CBBC audience will be thrilled to see Nadiya join Allegra as the new Junior Bake Off judge. Nadiya is an exacting baker but is also a huge inspiration to a new generation of bakers. She is also a born entertainer—and I can’t wait to see her giving our young contestants and Sam and Mark a run for their money!”

Susanne Rock, executive producer for Love Productions, stated: “We are thrilled that Junior Bake Off is back for a consecutive year and the response has been incredible with more young bakers applying than ever before. We are also delighted to welcome Nadiya as a judge who, alongside Allegra, will test the contestants’ bakes.

“As the winner of last year’s Great British Bake Off, Nadiya proved herself to be one of the most talented, committed and hardworking bakers the tent has ever seen and, as we have heard during the audition process, she is an inspiration to many of the young bakers. I’m sure they will be as excited as we are that she’ll be joining Allegra, Sam and Mark to make this year’s Junior Bake Off an outstanding series.”
