El Deafo Coming to Apple TV+ Next Month

Apple TV+ has added to its roster the three-part animated series El Deafo, which features the voice talents of Pamela Adlon (Better Things, Bob’s Burgers) and Jane Lynch (Glee, Harriet the Spy), among others.

El Deafo is based on the New York Times best-selling graphic memoir from Cece Bell. All episodes of the animated series for kids and families are slated to premiere on Apple TV+ on January 7.

The show follows insightful young Cece (voiced by Lexi Finigan, who is also deaf) as she loses her hearing and finds her inner superhero. Going to school and making new friends can be tough. Having to do both while wearing a bulky hearing aid on your chest? That takes superpowers! With a little help from her superhero alter ego, El Deafo, Cece learns to embrace what makes her extraordinary.

The Apple original is executive produced and written by Bell and Will McRobb (The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Harriet the Spy). Bell also narrates the series.
