Dragon Ball Super to Bow on POP

The animated series Dragon Ball Super is slated for a summer debut on the children’s channel POP in the U.K.

The Japanese adventure series, created by Toei Animation and distributed by Sony Pictures Television’s Funimation in the U.S., is set to launch on the channel on Monday, July 1, at 7 p.m., and will be available on free TV in the U.K. for the first time. Dragon Ball Super reconnects fans with their favorite characters while introducing fresh storylines, including the unveiling of 12 universes.

The series picks up as Goku and his friends—after defeating the evil Buu—are living peaceful lives, until one day the God of Destruction, Beerus, comes to challenge Goku. Other series available on POP include Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir and Power Rangers: Ninja Steel.

The series’ debut follows the success of this year’s Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie.

Craig Hunter, Sony Pictures Television Networks’ head of kids’ networks for the U.K., said: “We are thrilled that Dragon Ball Super will kick off a summer of super entertainment on POP. This classic show is an excellent addition to the channel’s extensive content catalog, and we look forward to expanding our offering even further in 2019.”
