Disney Channel UK & Jamie Oliver’s Fresh One Team for Cooking Series

SHEFFIELD: Following the success of the cooking show First Class Chefs, Disney Channel UK & Ireland has greenlit a short-form online series that is a new spin on the original.

First Class Chefs returns in the form of an online show with a family-themed twist. First Class Chefs: Family Style is a short-form online series that is intended to encourage families to cook together and whip up healthy, nutritious meals. Jamie Oliver’s Fresh One Productions returns to produce the latest version of the series, which will air online across multiple Disney digital platforms, including Disney Channel on YouTube and DisneyLife, as well as on Disney Channel this fall.

The new spin on the show was unveiled at the Children’s Media Conference. Each stand-alone five-minute episode will see two teams go head to head with just £5 ($7) to spend and one hour to prepare a healthy dish that will impress the host chef. The teams will be comprised of a contestant from the first season between the ages of 10 and 12, and an adult family member. The show will test skills spanning menu selection and buying and preparing nutritionally balanced meals on an affordable budget. A presenter will join the host chef to report back on the cook-off action and announce a winner and a runner-up at the end of each episode. The host chef and presenter of First Class Chefs: Family Style will be revealed in the coming weeks.

David Levine, the general manager of Disney Channels UK & Ireland, commented, “The success and exceptional cooking talent we saw from our young chefs in [season] one really inspired us, so we can’t wait to bring viewers the next installment with First Class Chefs: Family Style. We hope it inspires more kids and grown-ups to roll their sleeves up, get their hands messy and enjoy making delicious healthy meals together.”
