Disney Alum Alex Teslik Heads to Skybound

Skybound Animation has tapped former Disney executive director Alex Teslik as its new VP of production technology and post.

Teslik brings more than 20 years of animation production experience to the role, having most recently served as executive director of digital production for Disney Television Animation. In his new role, he will directly support the production of one of Skybound’s biggest IPs, Invincible, and pave the way to scale new animation projects.

At Disney Television Animation, Teslik supervised all digital deliveries from partner studios worldwide for all in-house Disney Television Animation productions, managed a large staff of 2D and 3D technical artists and was responsible for the mastering and delivery of 150 half-hours of content per year. In addition to playing a key role in developing the first 4K HDR production and postproduction workflows for children’s television for Monsters at Work seasons one and two, he was also a contributor to the global mastering specifications for Disney+.

Prior to becoming executive director, Teslik served as the supervising technical director for all animated series at Disney Television Animation, including franchise hits such as Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Phineas and Ferb, Kim Possible, Lilo and Stitch and Gravity Falls.

Teslik is also the co-founder of Eileen Darby Images.

Aside from Invincible, additional animation projects Skybound Animation is working on include bringing back the animated film festival Spike & Mike’s, where the likes of Pete Doctor (CCO at Pixar; Monsters, Inc.Up), Mike Judge (Beavis & Butt-Head) and Nick Park (Wallace and Gromit) got their starts, and an untitled unscripted competition series highlighting what it takes to become a top talent in animation today.

Teslik’s appointment marks Skybound’s eighth strategic executive hire of the year.

“Alex is a key talent to add to our 200-plus person animation studio,” said Marge Dean, head of Skybound Animation. “He has a genuine love for technology and solving problems and understands the technical and artistic aspects of animation production. I’m looking forward to growing our animation team and series with him!”
