The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), France Télévisions and CARTOON are once again aligning in an initiative focused on the collective financing of a project to be selected by EBU members during Cartoon Forum.

The co-development initiative kicked off in 2023 and has been renewed in 2024 with the selection of at least one project. Fifteen European public broadcasters have already confirmed their participation in the initiative.

They are: ARD/SWR (Germany), BBC (U.K.), DR (Denmark), FTV (France), LTV (Latvia), NPO (Netherlands), RAI (Italy), RTÉ (Ireland), RTP (Portugal), RTVE (Spain), STVR (Slovakia), SVT (Sweden), UA:PBC (Ukraine), VRT (Belgium) and Yle (Finland).

The participating broadcasters will gather to select the top ten projects. To achieve the final selection of the one or two winning projects that will receive development financing, EBU may reach out to the producers of the ten preselected projects for additional material to help broadcasters catch up on any missed pitches and form a better opinion.

Cartoon Forum attendees will have the chance to see the materials developed for last year’s selected projects, Pig & Andersen (Fleng Entertainment; Denmark) and Ray & Ruby (Creative Conspiracy; Belgium).
