{"id":9968,"date":"2023-10-11T09:00:25","date_gmt":"2023-10-11T13:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/sabc-brings-back-south-africas-got-talent\/"},"modified":"2023-10-11T11:49:33","modified_gmt":"2023-10-11T15:49:33","slug":"sabc-brings-back-south-africas-got-talent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/sabc-brings-back-south-africas-got-talent\/","title":{"rendered":"SABC Brings Back South Africa\u2019s Got Talent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Primedia Studios is working on a new treatment of <em>South Africa\u2019s Got Talent<\/em> for public broadcaster SABC.<\/p>\n<p><em>South Africa\u2019s Got Talent<\/em> originally debuted in 2009 on SABC 2 and ran for two seasons before moving to e.tv for a further six seasons. It has been off air in the country since 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Set to return to South African screens in mid-2024, the series will be produced in partnership with presenter, radio personality, producer, businesswoman and author Anele Mdoda\u2019s production company, Rose and Oaks Media.<\/p>\n<p>SABC also picked up second seasons of <em>Deal or No Deal South Africa<\/em> and <em>The Masked Singer South Africa<\/em> from Primedia Studios, the former in partnership with Homebrew Films and the latter with Mdoda\u2019s Rose and Oaks Media. The first seasons of both formats debuted this year on SABC.<em> The Masked Singer South Africa<\/em>, hosted by Mpho Popps, is currently SABC 3\u2019s most-watched show of 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Jan Du Plessis, president of Primedia Studios, said: \u201cOur mission at Primedia Studios is to be a world-class audiovisual content hub, infused with the spirit of South Africa and driven by our exceptional homegrown talent. It\u2019s what we are born to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Du Plessis added: \u201c<em>South Africa\u2019s Got Talent<\/em> will allow more exceptional local entertainers to tap into this massive global phenomenon without having to travel abroad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anahita Kheder, executive VP of formats and licensing for EMEA at Fremantle, said: \u201cThe<em> Got Talent<\/em> format continues to bring excellent entertainment whilst showcasing breathtaking talent to audiences worldwide.
