Detroit has become the third city to join the Love & Marriage<\/em> franchise, with Love & Marriage: Detroit<\/em> slated to debut on OWN on June 24.<\/p>\n

The latest iteration of the format centers on a group of African American families with deep ties to Detroit who have decided to stay in the city and prove they can provide the best lives possible for their families in the community.<\/p>\n

The new series centers on three families: the Harrises, the Smiths and the Thompsons.<\/p>\n

Russell and Kolby Harris are a young couple who have been married three years and share a two-year-old daughter. Russell considers himself head of the household and decides to start attending divinity school without consulting his wife, who feels that she should be included in those decisions. Russell also runs a nonprofit focused on literacy and sports, while Kolby is a rising social media influencer.<\/p>\n

Brandon and Kristina Bowman-Smith have been married 11 years and have two young daughters. Kristina is a well-known fashion designer, stylist and influencer in Detroit, and Brandon is the owner of Star Factor, an artist development program that trains young people to become singers and recording artists. Kristina isn\u2019t pleased when Brandon goes out to the clubs for his business, and when he doesn\u2019t share that he has begun working with new female artists and she finds out, a rift opens between them.<\/p>\n

Anthony and Dr. LaToya Thompson, meanwhile, have been married for 14 years and have two sons. Anthony works for Live Nation and is the owner of a production studio, while LaToya is a successful sports physical therapist and owner of Opulence Wines. She is the real breadwinner of the household, though Anthony would never admit that. When he is offered a gig in Atlanta, he accepts the job and temporarily moves against his wife\u2019s wishes.<\/p>\n
