{"id":9086,"date":"2022-07-13T10:27:11","date_gmt":"2022-07-13T14:27:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/traitors-set-spanish-adaptation\/"},"modified":"2022-07-13T12:00:05","modified_gmt":"2022-07-13T16:00:05","slug":"the-traitors-set-for-spanish-adaptation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/the-traitors-set-for-spanish-adaptation\/","title":{"rendered":"The Traitors Set for Spanish Adaptation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All3Media International has secured a deal for a new local adaptation of the psychological adventure format<em> The Traitors<\/em> in Spain, where it will stream on HBO Max.<\/p>\n<p>Originally developed by idtv and All3Media for RTL4 in the Netherlands, <em>The Traitors<\/em> has already been commissioned in the U.K., the U.S., Norway, France, Belgium and Australia. The eight-part series in Spain is being produced by Gestmusic (Banijay Iberia) for HBO Max and will play locally as <em>Traitors Espa\u00f1a<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The Spanish adaptation has wrapped filming in a castle in Spain featuring 18 celebrity contestants and is hosted by actor and director Sergio Peris-Mencheta. The celebrities\u2019 mission is to complete a series of challenges with the objective of earning a cash prize. The catch is that three of them are chosen to be traitors and must devise a plan to steal the prize instead of sharing it among the rest.<\/p>\n<p>All3Media International is distributing the format worldwide and will sell the tape version of both the U.K., U.S. and Australian adaptations.<\/p>\n<p>Marc Pos, CEO at idtv, said: \u201cWe are extremely proud that HBO Max has chosen to adapt our psychological adventure reality series <em>The Traitors<\/em>, and I look forward to our collaboration.<em> The Traitors<\/em> is currently conquering the world, and with Spain soon to have their own local series, I can&#8217;t wait for the response from their audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Annelies Sitvast, head of unscripted production at HBO Max EMEA, said: \u201cWe are delighted to bring <em>The Traitors<\/em> to HBO Max. This intriguing format is guaranteed to offer a nail-biting battle between good and evil, where no one knows who to trust, and we can\u2019t wait to see everyone\u2019s game plans unfold. The psychological battle between contestants, the incredible settings and some amazing participants is a recipe for success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tinet Rubira, general manager of Gestmusic (Banijay Iberia), said: \u201cWe have created a Spanish adaptation of <em>The Traitors<\/em> for HBO Max with a Spanish audience in mind. It is cinematic, with a production scale which means viewers will become completely immersed in this world full of twists, turns and treachery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Driscoll, executive VP for EMEA and European co-productions at All3Media International, added: \u201c<em>The Traitors<\/em> is a fantastic example of the strong potential of a truly great idea.
