{"id":9084,"date":"2022-07-13T10:13:46","date_gmt":"2022-07-13T14:13:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/bbc-hires-head-entertainment\/"},"modified":"2022-07-13T12:06:47","modified_gmt":"2022-07-13T16:06:47","slug":"bbc-hires-head-of-entertainment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/bbc-hires-head-of-entertainment\/","title":{"rendered":"BBC Hires Head of Entertainment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kalpna Patel-Knight has been tapped to take up the newly created head of entertainment commissioning role at the BBC.<\/p>\n<p>In her new position, Patel-Knight will work closely with Kate Phillips, director of unscripted, to lead the direction of BBC Entertainment and deliver on the commissioning strategy. She will be responsible for commissioning entertainment output on all channels and BBC iPlayer and oversee more than 500 hours of original programs a year.<\/p>\n<p>Shows under Patel-Knight\u2019s remit include <em>Strictly Come Dancing<\/em>, <em>RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race UK<\/em>, <em>The Apprentice<\/em>,<em> Top Gear<\/em>, <em>Wim Hof\u2019s Freeze the Fear<\/em>, <em>The Hit List<\/em>, <em>The Graham Norton Show<\/em>, <em>Michael McIntyre\u2019s The Wheel<\/em>, <em>Have I Got News for You<\/em> and <em>MasterChef<\/em>. She will also commission such entertainment events as <em>Eurovision<\/em>, <em>Comic Relief<\/em> and <em>Children in Need<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining the BBC, Patel-Knight was the head of entertainment at Possessed and worked as an executive producer on entertainment shows such as\u00a0<em>Celebs Go Dating<\/em> and <em>Surprise Surprise<\/em>. She joined the BBC Entertainment department five years ago and most recently has been commissioning editor on series including <em>Michael McIntyre\u2019s The Wheel<\/em>, <em>Blankety Blank<\/em> and <em>Wim Hof\u2019s Freeze the Fear<\/em>. Patel-Knight set up and is chair of the BBC\u2019s first ever Creative Diversity and Inclusion Panel.<\/p>\n<p>Patel-Knight said: \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to take on this new role.
