Distributors are tapping into two apparent demands from the format buying community: game shows that will punch through in a very crowded market\u2014and be easy to replicate\u2014and brand-new takes on dating and relationship series. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/worldscreenevents.com\/festival\/tvformats-screenings-322\/\">TVFormatsScreeningsFestival.com<\/a> to screen these titles. Clicking on each show title below will take you directly to the trailer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/newsletters.worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/img\/2022-03-23-Nick-Smith-ALL3MEDIA-322.png\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"8\" vspace=\"8\" \/>All3Media International has an eclectic mix in this second edition of the TV Formats Screenings Festival, including three brands in the dating and relationship space. <a href=\"https:\/\/worldscreenevents.com\/festivals\/date-or-drop\/\"><strong><em>Date or Drop<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which has fared well for RTL in Germany, is a studio show that can be \u201cproduced risqu\u00e9 or family friendly,\u201d observes Nick Smith, executive VP of formats at the company. A studio version of <a href=\"https:\/\/worldscreenevents.com\/festivals\/flirty-dancing\/\"><strong><em>Flirty Dancing<\/em><\/strong><\/a>recently rolled out in France, Smith adds, noting it \u201cretains the feeling of watching a rom-com but the dances happening in front of a host, studio audience and panel adds jeopardy.\u201d Smith also highlights <a href=\"https:\/\/worldscreenevents.com\/festivals\/dont-tell-the-bride\/\"><strong><em>Don\u2019t Tell the Bride<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which has run for 14 seasons in the U.K. and been adapted in 17 markets. \u201cAfter a couple of years where so many weddings have been postponed, now is the perfect time to commission this format,\u201d Smith quips.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/newsletters.worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/img\/2022-03-23-AgnesMybe-PASSION-322.png\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"8\" vspace=\"8\" \/>Passion Distribution is also plugging a new dating format, <a href=\"https:\/\/worldscreenevents.com\/festivals\/love-in-the-flesh\/\"><strong><em>Love in the Flesh<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which \u201cexplores the phenomenon of online dating and whether relationships formed through social media and dating apps can survive in the real world,\u201d says Agnes Mbye, senior sales manager for formats at the company. Passion Distribution is also pitching to clients the prime-time format <a href=\"https:\/\/worldscreenevents.com\/festivals\/stitch-please\/\"><strong><em>Stitch, Please!<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which Mbye describes as a \u201cfast-paced and highly entertaining show that brings together drama, iconic fashion and celebrity culture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/newsletters.worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/img\/2022-03-23-Andre%20Renaud-BBCSTUDIOS-322.png\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"8\" vspace=\"8\" \/>BBC Studios\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/worldscreenevents.com\/festivals\/megahit\/\"><strong><em>Megahit<\/em><\/strong><\/a> also promises prime-time entertainment, bringing celebrities and established music producers together to write and produce new songs. \u201c<em>Megahit<\/em> produced some thoroughly entertaining and completely unique hits, including love letters to politicians and songs about working out, and the potential for commercial tie-ins is obvious,\u201d says Andre Renaud, senior VP of global format sales. \u201cThe show was a hit with viewers in Norway, creating two Spotify number ones and over 25 million Spotify streams to date.\u201d For access prime, meanwhile, BBC Studios has the game-show format <a href=\"https:\/\/worldscreenevents.com\/festivals\/16-zeros\/\"><strong><em>1&amp;6 Zeros<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which Renaud describes as a \u201cnail-biting watch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/newsletters.worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/img\/2022-03-23-Ryuji-Komiya-FUJI-322.png\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"8\" vspace=\"8\" \/>Fuji Television Network is also touting a new game show, <a href=\"https:\/\/worldscreenevents.com\/festivals\/mansion-can-you-keep-the-cash\/\"><strong><em>$$$ Mansion\u2014Can You Keep the Cash?<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, in which four teams vie for a massive cash prize. \u201c<em>$$$ Mansion <\/em>is a brand-new concept mixing escape game and stressful challenges into an exciting TV show,\u201d says Ryuji Komiya, head of formats. \u201cThe concept of the mansion and the room where the challenges take place is unique, and you can see different stories according to the rooms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/newsletters.worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/img\/2022-03-23-SayakoAoki-NIPPONTV-322.png\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"8\" vspace=\"8\" \/>Nippon TV is showcasing its expertise in both scripted and non-scripted content with its TV Formats Screenings Festival entries. Sayako Aoki, head of formats, international business development, references the continued demand for game shows and highlights <a href=\"https:\/\/worldscreenevents.com\/festivals\/dark-doubt\/\"><strong><em>Dark Doubt<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which uses \u201cnight-vision and fixed-point cameras in pitch-dark spaces\u2014the resulting visual impact of this series is quite amazing,\u201d she says. On the scripted front, meanwhile, is <a href=\"https:\/\/worldscreenevents.com\/festivals\/connected\/\"><strong><em>CONNECTED<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, developed with the U.K.\u2019s Envision Entertainment, which was \u201cdesigned to expand to a number of localized versions, featuring diverse characters from different countries, while all belonging to the same shared online universe,\u201d Aoki says.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/newsletters.worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/img\/2022-03-23-Carolina-Sabbag-DORI-322.png\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"8\" vspace=\"8\" \/>Dori Media Group\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/worldscreenevents.com\/festivals\/power-couple-2\/\"><strong><em>Power Couple<\/em><\/strong><\/a> is a returning game-show hit that Carolina Sabbag, VP of sales for Western Europe, the U.S. and Canada, says is \u201ca flexible format that can be easily adapted in big and small markets on a daily or weekly basis.\u201d Dori Media is also talking to its clients about the new dating show <a href=\"https:\/\/worldscreenevents.com\/festivals\/spy-date\/\"><strong><em>Spy Date<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which delivers a unique take on the genre, Sabbag says. \u201cThe bachelors don\u2019t know that they are on a dating show and a former Mossad agent makes the magic happen, generating the option to truly connect. The mix between these completely different worlds gives the format a unique and exquisite taste.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The TV Formats Screenings Festival also includes All3Media International\u2019s reality competition <a href=\"https:\/\/worldscreenevents.com\/festivals\/the-traitors\/\"><strong><em>The Traitors<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which has been commissioned in 11 territories since its Dutch launch, including the U.S., U.K. and Australia, Smith says.
