{"id":7497,"date":"2020-02-06T11:28:30","date_gmt":"2020-02-06T16:28:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/marblemedias-round-champion-gets-second-season\/"},"modified":"2020-02-06T11:29:04","modified_gmt":"2020-02-06T16:29:04","slug":"marblemedias-all-round-champion-gets-second-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/marblemedias-all-round-champion-gets-second-season\/","title":{"rendered":"marblemedia\u2019s All-Round Champion Gets Second Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Season two of the North American version of the competition format <em>All-Round Champion<\/em> has been greenlit and gone into production, with premiere dates for season one confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by Canadian Olympian and World Champion hurdler Perdita Felicien and produced by marblemedia,<em> All-Round Champion<\/em> is an inspirational and feel-good challenge series that features ten of North America\u2019s most celebrated young athletes competing in each other\u2019s sports. Rising stars aged 12 to 15 from sports as diverse as swimming, golf and gymnastics test their abilities in a new discipline in every episode and score points based on skill, sportsmanship and general improvement over the series.<\/p>\n<p>Each week, they\u2019ll receive coaching from a major sporting star, such as American gymnast Alicia Sacramone Quin, who\u2019ll help them overcome their fears and provide tips and help with technique. The non-elimination format sees all ten young sporting stars remain until the final episode when scores are added up and one athlete is declared the All-Round Champion.<\/p>\n<p><em>All-Round Champion<\/em> is set to debut on BYUtv in the U.S. on March 19 and on TVO in Canada on March 25. The series will also air on Canada\u2019s Knowledge Network this summer.<\/p>\n<p>In season two, the focus has shifted to ten winter sports, all different activities from season one. Featured celebrity guests include three-time X Games Champion Max Parrot (snowboarding), Olympic gold medal winner Derek Parra (speed skating) and World Champion Sarah Hendrickson (ski jumping).<\/p>\n<p>marblemedia acquired the format rights for a North American version of <em>All-Round Champion<\/em> from Beta Film. It was originally created by NRK in Norway, where, as <em>Best I Mest<\/em>, it won an International Emmy Kids Award for non-scripted entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Hornburg, marblemedia\u2019s co-CEO and executive producer of <em>All-Round Champion<\/em>, commented: \u201cWe immediately saw something very special in this format, so are delighted that our partners at BYUtv and TVOKids agree and have had the confidence to greenlight season two well ahead of the season one premieres. At a time when the worldview seems to be that teenagers are glued to their devices this series reveals the passion and dedication that young people can bring to sport and shows just what can be achieved if you try something new.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michael Dunn from BYUtv said: \u201cWith inspiring young athletes, world-class sports stars, exciting competition, and edge-of-seat sporting tension, <em>All-Round Champion<\/em> will be enjoyable viewing for all the family.
