SBS in Australia has greenlit a second season of BBC Studios’ Mastermind<\/em> and ordered a celebrity edition of the format.<\/p>\n

The broadcaster has opted for 85 additional episodes of Mastermind<\/em> for early 2020. Celebrity Mastermind<\/em> will consist of five one-hour specials. Jennifer Byrne returns as host of the game show, which is produced for SBS by BBC Studios ANZ.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re delighted that the first series of Mastermind <\/em>successfully established an early evening \u2018smart slot\u2019 for SBS audiences and can\u2019t wait to be back with more,” said Kylie Washington, director of production at BBC Studios ANZ. “Celebrity Mastermind<\/em> gives us a chance to build on the success of the brand and invite some of Australia\u2019s smartest household names to bravely step up to the black chair too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Josh Martin, commissioning editor for entertainment at SBS, added, \u201cThis is a timeless format and the diversity of specialist topics is a joy to watch\u2014not to mention that the play-at-home nature of the series has proven to be an important destination for audiences at 6 p.m. on weeknights.
