{"id":6609,"date":"2018-12-05T11:13:14","date_gmt":"2018-12-05T16:13:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/u-k-version-rupauls-drag-race-coming-bbc-three\/"},"modified":"2018-12-05T11:45:56","modified_gmt":"2018-12-05T16:45:56","slug":"u-k-version-of-rupauls-drag-race-coming-to-bbc-three","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/u-k-version-of-rupauls-drag-race-coming-to-bbc-three\/","title":{"rendered":"U.K. Version of RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race Coming to BBC Three"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BBC Three and World of Wonder have revealed that a U.K. version of <em>RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race<\/em> is coming to the channel in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>In the first U.K. adaptation of the show, RuPaul will be on the lookout to crown one of the country&#8217;s top drag artists as the &#8220;Queen of Great Britain.&#8221;<em> RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race UK<\/em> has been given an initial order for eight hour-long episodes.<\/p>\n<p>RuPaul said: \u201cIt is a dream come true to extend our royal family to the United Kingdom with our partners at BBC Three. I am beyond excited to celebrate the massive charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent of the Queen\u2019s queens. And before anyone asks, yes, we would be thrilled to have Meghan Markle join us, as we are already preparing a \u2018Royal-Mother-To-Be\u2019 runway challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Damian Kavanagh, controller of BBC Three, added: \u201cNeedless to say, we\u2019re delighted that BBC Three will be the home of a new U.K. version of <em>Drag Race<\/em>. It is one of the biggest entertainment titles in the world and anticipation levels for a U.K. version have been at feverish levels. With heart, humor and the un-imitable RuPaul, <em>Drag Race<\/em> is going to take BBC Three to a whole new level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kate Phillips, BBC&#8217;s controller of entertainment commissioning, commented: \u201cI\u2019ve been a huge fan of this funny, frank and fierce format for a long time.
