The show will be produced locally, with each episode integrating linear, social and digital under the <em>TRL<\/em> brand. The 2019 premiere will mark the first international treatment of the franchise since its return to MTV in the U.S. last year.<\/p>\n<p><em>TRL Australia<\/em> was originally broadcast on MTV from 2004 to 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Simon Bates, the VP and head of MTV Asia Pacific, commented: \u201cWe want to create a place where music, celebrity, pop culture and superstar content creators collide, and <em>TRL Australia<\/em> can do that by having something fresh and exciting everywhere fans seek out entertainment. After the successful launch of <em>MTV Unplugged<\/em> in Melbourne last month, it\u2019s obvious there is an appetite for more live music franchises to showcase Australian artists and connect them with their fans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMusic remains core to our vision for MTV around the globe,\u201d added Bruce Gillmer, the global head of music and talent at Viacom, and co-brand head for MTV International. \u201cWe are amplifying music content and supporting incredible acts with global and local events, storytelling vehicles like <em>The Ride<\/em>, and by giving iconic MTV series a new, local flavor as you\u2019re seeing with the launch of <em>TRL Australia<\/em> and the many local <em>Unplugged<\/em> specials we\u2019ve taped around the world this year.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MTV has given the go-ahead to a brand-new Australian adaptation of TRL, which is due to debut Down Under next year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":479,"featured_media":6414,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pmpro_default_level":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[69],"tags":[85,1469],"class_list":["post-6413","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","","category-top-stories","tag-mtv","tag-trl-australia","pmpro-has-access"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.7 -
