A Los Angeles judge has granted Sony Pictures Television the rights to take over distribution of the game shows Jeopardy!<\/em> and Wheel of Fortune<\/em> from CBS.<\/p>\n

In his ruling on Thursday, Superior Court Judge Kevin Brazile stated: \u201cSony can begin distributing the shows and does not need to deliver episodes to CBS.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sony, which produces the two game shows, filed a complaint in October 2024 alleging that CBS entered into unauthorized licensing agreements and claimed that CBS licensed the shows at below-market rates and failed to maximize advertising revenue.<\/p>\n

In February, Sony assumed distribution. CBS then sought and was granted a restraining order, which allowed the network to retain distribution rights to the programs.<\/p>\n

CBS Media Ventures has said that it will immediately appeal the court’s new ruling on the distribution rights.<\/p>\n

Sony Pictures Television said: \u201cWe are gratified by the court\u2019s ruling today, and we look forward to distributing our shows, Jeopardy!<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Wheel of Fortune<\/em>, to the 200-plus stations that license and count on this programming in the U.S. and around the world and the millions of fans who tune in to these beloved game shows every week.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
