{"id":14959,"date":"2025-03-20T09:45:35","date_gmt":"2025-03-20T13:45:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/something-special-raises-expansion-funding\/"},"modified":"2025-03-20T13:17:39","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T17:17:39","slug":"something-special-raises-expansion-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/something-special-raises-expansion-funding\/","title":{"rendered":"Something Special Raises Expansion Funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Korean format outfit Something Special has received venture capital funding from DAEKYO Investment and SB Partners to power its next phase of expansion.<\/p>\n<p>The five-year-old venture was founded by Jin Woo Hwang, president and executive producer, and InSoon Kim, executive VP and head of content, and is home to formats such as <em>Unforgettable Duet<\/em>, recently optioned in Australia, and <em>Battle in the Box<\/em>, optioned in 23 territories.<\/p>\n<p>DAEKYO Investment manages a DAEKYO K-Contents Scale Up Fund to help small and medium-sized Korean content companies. It is the lead investor in Something Special&#8217;s funding round, with SB Partners providing supporting capital.<\/p>\n<p>Roh Jai Seung, executive director at DAEKYO Investment, stated: \u201cSomething Special has proven itself to be a globally known and highly respected content company, specialized in Korean formats, both producing and helping to promote great Korean IP outside of Korea.
