{"id":14848,"date":"2025-02-07T10:13:34","date_gmt":"2025-02-07T15:13:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/paramount-granted-temporary-restraining-order-in-sony-spat\/"},"modified":"2025-02-07T13:12:23","modified_gmt":"2025-02-07T18:12:23","slug":"paramount-granted-temporary-restraining-order-in-sony-spat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/paramount-granted-temporary-restraining-order-in-sony-spat\/","title":{"rendered":"Paramount Granted Temporary Restraining Order in Sony Spat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Los Angeles Superior Court has granted Paramount Global Content Distribution\u2019s request for a temporary restraining order against Sony Pictures Television\u2019s attempt to take over distribution for <em>Wheel of Fortune<\/em> and <em>Jeopardy!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re pleased the court issued a temporary restraining order against Sony\u2019s unlawful actions,\u201d a spokesperson for Paramount Global Content Distribution said. \u201cWe will continue to seamlessly license <em>Wheel of Fortune<\/em> and <em>Jeopardy!<\/em> as both a completed show and local formats to our licensing clients like we have for over 40 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Sony Pictures Television, which produces <em>Wheel of Fortune<\/em> and <em>Jeopardy!<\/em>, sent a letter about its intent to take back global distribution of the programs due to alleged contract violations by CBS. The letter from Sony said that it terminated CBS\u2019s distribution rights in August. A lawsuit was filed in October.<\/p>\n<p>This new order from the courts means that Sony cannot attempt to take over distribution functions.
