{"id":10902,"date":"2024-10-21T04:32:56","date_gmt":"2024-10-21T08:32:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/doctor-foster-ghosts-headed-for-greek-treatments\/"},"modified":"2024-10-21T04:32:59","modified_gmt":"2024-10-21T08:32:59","slug":"doctor-foster-ghosts-headed-for-greek-treatments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvformats\/doctor-foster-ghosts-headed-for-greek-treatments\/","title":{"rendered":"Doctor Foster, Ghosts Headed for Greek Treatments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BBC Studios Global Entertainment has signed two scripted format deals that will bring local versions of the drama <em>Doctor Foster<\/em> and the comedy series <em>Ghosts<\/em> in Greece.<\/p>\n<p>The Greek adaptation of <em>Doctor Foster<\/em>, titled <em>Paihnidia Ekdikisis<\/em> (<em>Revenge Games<\/em>), will star Marilita Lambropoulou in the lead role and Nikos Kouris as her husband. Produced by ANT1 TV and Silverline Media Productions, the 80&#215;60-minute series has drawn further inspiration from the Turkish adaptation of the format by Medyap\u0131m, <em>A Woman Scorned<\/em>, and will be written by Yiannis Skaragkas and directed by Alekos Kiranis. The series is due to air on ANT1 TV and SVOD ANT1+ in spring 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The Greek adaptation of <em>Ghosts<\/em> will mark the fifth international license of the format. Comedy writer Theodore Petropoulos is on board for the adaptation, which is being produced locally by Tanweer Productions. The series will begin shooting this winter and is due to broadcast on Star Channel in fall 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Forde, managing director for global entertainment at BBC Studios, said: \u201cIt is brilliant to see that local adaptations of both <em>Ghosts<\/em> and <em>Doctor Foster<\/em> will soon be reaching Greek audiences. <em>Ghosts<\/em> leans into key moments and figures from local history so I am really looking forward to seeing how Greece will playfully reflect this in their own version. We have already seen some fantastic local takes on the gripping story of Doctor Foster, and with such a talented on- and off-screen ensemble, I am certain this Greek adaptation will be another.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>George Levendis, managing director of ANT1 TV, MAK TV and Antenna Studios, said: \u201cWe\u2019re absolutely thrilled to be bringing the award-winning drama <em>Doctor Foster<\/em> to Greek viewers and delighted with our partnership with BBC Studios.
